As an artist, I believe that when properly organized and interconnected, various patterns, color frequencies and wavelengths may be blended into multiple harmonic frequencies creating a visual effect that is similar to pleasing music. Scientists refer to stimulation by visual perception through spatial orientation as 'visual acoustics'. The work of Piet Mondrian and his contemporaries, and their search for spiritual harmony through art, has been my primary artistic influence. In my artworks, I develop complex, layered depictions of harmonic frequencies by using line, color juxtapositions, pattern repetition, and size to affect the viewer’s visual perception. In doing so, I am working toward certain reactive aspects in the color and design that are essentially therapeutic and pleasing in nature. Collectors of my work have told me that viewing the images elicits feelings of harmony, calm, and introspection. They also experience increased levels of positive energy and also feel a powerful intellectual stimulus.

My studio work contains a combination of both traditional artist media and digital techniques. I begin a new artwork with a hand-drawn sketch of the new image, first building of a framework of lines, followed by the addition of color, more line, and notations that are related to completing the image design. When the sketch has been completed, I then move over to my computer and begin to develop a finalized version of the design. During this process, I will add more detail, increase complexity, balance and harmony, and interconnect the various elements by using a subtle and sophisticated approach to color. Often, this period of the image development takes me a full week or more, as I come back again and again, adding small details and adjusting the color scheme so that it produces the desired visual effect. Once I have completed the design, I produce a single large-format image on canvas. After adding color adjustments and other hand work, I have the final original one-off image. I often photograph that piece as a means of producing a series of limited edition examples to be printed on paper and canvas.

My limited edition images are printed on archival quality media - either on very heavy, acid-free paper or artist canvas. I use a special archival ink set in conjunction with a 12-color wide format Giclee printer. The inks are rated for at least a century of fade-free viewing. My larger works are fused to custom built wooden box frames, and then covered in a special clear resin that enhances the colors and dynamic range of the image.  The striking translucency and color saturation of these artworks results from the flawless clear finishes that this specially developed resin produces. All artworks are completed in-studio. My work is available as one-off unique designs or as signed and numbered limited editions. Thank you for your interest in my art.
